Skills, Tests, Achievement, Recognition – this is what STARSkate is all about!
STAR 1-5
The STAR 1-5 program offers the best-in-class figure skating curriculum in Canada, targeting athletes looking for a future in the sport. Taught by Skate Canada NCCP coaches, the program introduces participants to the basic figure skating elements to create the foundation for singles, pairs, ice dance and synchronized skating.
All skaters in this program must have passed CanSkate Stage 6 or equivalent. Skaters may be any age. Adaptive skaters who have the required skating ability welcome.
STAR 6 - GOLD
STAR 6- Gold is an assessment and event structure for skaters who completed the STAR 1-5 Program. This structure builds on the skills acquired in STAR 1-5 and introduces skaters to more advanced figure skating elements.
The StarSkate program consists of figure skating skills in four areas – Skating Skills, Ice Dance, Free Skate and Artistic. STARskate Program.
- For all none LSC home club members, you will be considered after initial enrolment of current LSC members. Please contact Administration for more information.
This program is for figure skaters that have completed their CanSkate levels and are interested in figure skating (competing and taking tests.) Skaters are introduced to STAR 1 jumps, spins, dances, skills and other figure skating exercises.
Skaters must have:
- Passed CanSkate Badge 6 (Full) but have not passed all 3 STAR 1 tests
- Working on Star 1 tests
- Interested in competing at Starskate - STAR 1 level
- One 60-minute session (15 min warm up, 30 min group time with LSC coach, 15 min independent time)
- Private coach not required to join Bronze but recommended for testing and competitions
- Bronze skaters are committed to 1 sessions per week however encouraged to skate 2 sessions.
- NEW - Most sessions will run as 1 Full Term (September 204 - April 2025)
- NEW - Thursday morning and Saturday morning Open STARskate (these sessions will run as half terms.)
- NEW - Combo (multi-discount) 10% off 3rd session, 15% off 4th, 5th session. To benefit from this rebate, participants must purchase all their activities at the same time. Future purchases will not be taken into consideration.
- NEW - Installment payment option available. (1st installment on registration, 2nd installment January 6th 2025)
Skating wear: Skaters are encouraged to wear leggings, fitted clothing, hair up neat off skaters face, water bottle.
Please remember to sharpen your skates prior to the first session! Skates do not come pre-sharpened and it is nearly impossible to skate on dull blades.

The Leaside Skating Club is sanctioned by Skate Canada and is a non-profit organization.

Fees are prorated once season starts and will be reflected during the registration process.
Skaters working on Star 2-4, competing or taking tests. They will be taught new skills in the four disciplines: Skating Skills, Ice Dance, Free Skate and Interpretive. Group lessons are provided for a portion of the session with individual time for skaters to work on their own. You may arrange private or semi Private Lessons with the coach of your choice. Silver skaters are committed to skate twice a week.

- Working on Star 2, 3, 4 tests
- Intent to compete at STAR 2 level
- Committed to a minimum of 2 session per week
- Must have a private coach

Some lesson time with a coach is provide during the session. Silver skaters will need to arrange coaches for
private lessons. Skaters are encouraged to speak to their private coach before selecting days to ensure lesson availability.

Skaters will continue to work on skills in the four disciplines: Skating Skills, Ice Dance, Free Skate and Interpretive. Group lessons are provided for a portion of the session with more individual time for skaters to work on their own. You may arrange private or semi private lessons with the coach of your choice.
Off Ice classes included for all packages, regardless of scheduling of options. We offer a selection of Skating Sessions 4 times a week. Sessions will be assessed in the first 3 weeks to ensure correct placement of skaters.
Gold Requirements:
- Must meet any 2 of the following criteria:
- Intent to compete at Provincial Series 2023-2024 season
- Passed 2 STAR 4 tests or STAR 3 FreeSkate + 1 STAR 4 test (Dance or Skills)
- Committed to a minimum of 2 STARskate sessions per week
- NEW - Most sessions will run as 1 Full Term (September 204 - April 2025)
- NEW - Thursday morning and Saturday morning Open STARskate (these sessions will run as half terms.)
- NEW - Combo (multi-discount) 10% off 3rd session, 15% off 4th, 5th session. To benefit from this rebate, participants must purchase all their activities at the same time. Future purchases will not be taken into consideration.

Skaters are encouraged to speak with their coach regarding session hours/skating days
Skaters are encourage to participate in club hosted events and or testing
